Beijing – a
Fascinating City
Beijing, the capital of
People’s Republic of China, is the nation’s political and
economic hub, and a center for culture and international exchanges. Beijing is a dynamic
modern metropolis with 3,000 years of cultural treasures woven in to the urban
tapestry.
Beijing was once imperial
capital of five dynasties and has left numerous historical sites, which possess
great aesthetic and cultural value. Every day, hundreds of thousands of people,
domestic and foreign, come to Beijing to visit its grand palaces and graceful
gardens and to enjoy its marvelous art. Along with the iconic imagery of the
Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall, the city offers
an endless mixture of theatres, museums, discos, all kinds of restaurants and
shopping malls that will amaze and delight you.
As an international
metropolis with ancient charm and modern infrastructure,
Beijing has attracted
attention worldwide. Furthermore, on the way to 2008 Olympic, rapid change could
be seen everywhere. You can still catch the gleam of the ancient glory, but the
huge, burgeoning metropolis is rapidly carving the way to its future.
