:Well
location is very important for avoiding drinking-water contamination. A well's
locationis
crucial whether it taps water from just below the ground surface or from several
hundredfeet
deep. Locating a well in a safe place takes careful planning and consideration
of factorslike
the flow of surface water and groundwater. A well downhill from a
livestock yard, aleaking
tank, or a failing septic system can have a greater risk of contamination than a
welllocated
uphill from these pollution sources.
